I Have a Job For You

http://www.abkldesigns.com

***Thanks for your responses! I'm with you on the berries, I could eat them every day! We have had a lot of success with raspberries in the past and not so much with strawberries. We are definitely going to take Sarah's (http://lifeabundant.wordpress.com/) strawberry advice. As soon as we have an official list of what we will grow I will post it. Please continue to give us your feedback! We love it!

Last night Joel was planning out how to set up his drip irrigation and deciding how big our garden should be. It is so hard to know what we will be capable of the first year. I'm thinking there will be a lot of trial and error!

For the past few days we have been looking at seed catalogues and making lists of veggies we would like to grow. But we need your help!

If you were to receive a box of veggies what would you want in it?

How often would you need a delivery? Weekly? Biweekly? Monthly?

Does anyone have a good source for organic seeds? We have discovered High Mowing organic seeds (http://www.highmowingseeds.com/) but would love to hear about others.

This in no way obligates you to order from us, we only wish to pick the brains of all you smart people out there! Many thanks!

Biweekly

Tomatoes, lettuce, corn on the cob, cucumbers, basically salad stuff. Does broccoli grow well here?

I know they aren't veggies, but I would also love berries and melons.

We want to try broccoli but I think it grows early in the season? Joel knows more than I do about that. We are definitely going to grow berries, melons, and pumpkins. Thanks for your input!

I agree with Becky - biweeky.

Tomatoes!! I think that there's nothing better then fresh out of the garden tomatoes. I also think corn on the cob and zucchini would be good. There's my input :)

About the background on our blog, it's just a standard template. I have to admit that Ben picked it out not me. But I like it.

I love the new picture that you put up. He is a doll!!

What a cute picture of your little guy! I see water walls/wells in the background very cool we use those too - they really make a difference! To your poll question about what I would order in a week - On a weekly basis I buy lettuce, sprouts and carrots and melon but not this time of year because it is too expensive sometimes cucumbers then every other week celery oh and I love red bell peppers! As far as growing berries goes I bought some bare-root(which in that state they look dead) strawberries two springs ago, planted them and I could not believe how many I got that first year. So you may want to think about getting strawberries started this year. Other berries take a couple years to get established for the most part though. I would probably get berries every week. Do you know what your growing season is? I will get back to you about those seed companies soon. Blessings, Sarah

Love the ideas, keep them coming! Sarah, we have never had luck with strawberries so we will have to try those. We have raspberries at our place right now and they produced abundantly on their second year. We love berries of all kinds and plan to have a variety. All this talk about growing things makes me want spring to be here now!

Hi, I was in a CSA program in Virginia. We got a bushel of stuff a week. It was the best summer of cooking and trying new things ever. I can't wait to be where I can do that again.

I saw organic seeds at Walmart today.

I'm a little bit granola so I totally love what you are doing.
