I have to admit...I like American Idol

Yes, it's true. Do you still like me? If not that's okay, I gotta be me! ;0)

Truth be told, I have been thinking about this post since Tuesday night after the top 12 guys performed but I finally had time and courage to write it tonight. My friend Becky is to be blamed for all of this! She got me into it in the first place! (Check out her American Idol post at http://avellafamily.blogspot.com/). I have not always been a fan. In fact, during the first few seasons I viewed the show with a certain amount of disdain. I did not understand the schedule (What? It's on three days in a row?) and when I did manage to watch it was always the results show which is absolutely no fun if you haven't seen the performances. I also thought it was way too cheesy. As Simon would say, "It was all a bit cabaret" for my taste. During my "I'm too good for American Idol" phase, Becky would tell me how fun and entertaining the show was but to no avail. Then I got Tivo and everything changed. I became an American Idol devotee overnight. But I was still "too good" to vote until last season. I liked Blake Lewis, the Seattle beatboxer, so much that I voted for him almost every week!

There should be an AA group for this.

Hello, my name is Jennifer and I voted on American Idol.

So, are there any other secret American Idol lovers out there? It's time to come out! And it's time for me to watch some Tivo!

Oh, I almost forgot! These are the contestants I like so far. Hopefully they weren't voted off tonight!

THE GIRLS

Fave girl so far. This chick seriously rocks. Love it!

What can I say? Totally adorable and WOW what a voice!

This girl was a great entertainer! She was so fun in a "like totally to the max" 1980's sort of way.

She is so sweet and has a beautiful voice but someone needs to tell her not to dance. Or move at all for that matter. Just sing.

THE GUYS

I think he's the best guy so far but a tad overconfident.

He was such a natural and just seemed like a sweet, mellow guy. I really liked his performance.

Too cute for words (like a little puppy) and waaaaaay talented.

I should probably put their names on here but I'm too lazy!

Signing out,

Jen

**Addendum**

I still don't like the results show. Talk about cheesy! Blech.

I'm proud of you! : )

Karissa is gaga for Amanda, too, but I'll have to pass. Not my style. : ) I have to admit that she is "authentic", though.

David A. is a little too young for me, but I definitely agree with your other guy faves. The one I do not like is Danny.

After Hollywood week, my favorites were Carly Smithson and Michael Johns. It will be interesting to see if they stay my favorites. After the guys sang on Tuesday, David Cook, Robbie Carrico, and Jason Castro won my respect.....and a few votes. : ) I'm hoping the girls get healthy and have better performances.

Thanks for making me feel better about my adiction.

Love ya!
Becky

I'm far from addicted...just decent family TV around here. The kids like it, and I like them being quiet while they watch it! Even though I'm not an addict...it would be fun to have an AI girls night or something. Or just a girls lunch again...or a girls spa day...or a girls 20 minute walk...or something where kids weren't involved and I wasn't staring at these 4 walls!

I admit, we watch it too, Kevin is a singer so he critiques. Garrett, who was voted out this week is from the little town in northwest Ohio next to the little town where I grew up. You can imagine the exitement around there.

Aren't friends great for getting us to watch shows that we at first shun? American Idol, huh? It is a fun show although I am not addicted, my addiction still lies with LOST, which have you watched it lately - oh my goodness - I am so lost!!! Anyway, back to your show, I will probably start to watch more once they get to the final 10 and they start performing on the big stage with ALL the screaming fans - you know that would be my absolute nightmare. Do you like singing in front of people? Anyway, I totally understand you Idol addiction, there is no shame in it.:0) Hope you are having a good weekend! Sarah (Oh I have not forgotten about emailing you back about the garlic...this week)

I would never sing in front of a group of people, screaming or otherwise! I'm not known for my musical abilities and I have a fear of public speaking. Bad, bad combo!

Yes, I watch lost and yes, it makes me feel utterly lost! Every week I'm so frustrated and every week I keep coming back for more!

I totally agree with your male pick. I didn't pick up on the over confident part though. However, some of the girls...way to cocky for me. I like your second girl pick (the cute little thing with the big voice). I don't remember their names.

Oh yeah, Blake was our pick all the way :o(
